Bristol woman sought after weekend pursuit

ABINGDON, Va. (WJHL) - A Bristol woman who is facing several charges after a police chase last weekend remains at large according to authorities.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is looking for 34-year-old Heather Nicole Callahan of Bristol, Virginia.

According to the sheriff's office, a deputy was investigating a reported shoplifting last Sunday at the Dollar General on Benhams Road when Callahan fled the scene, nearly running over the deputy.

The sheriff's office says she led deputies on a chase that went through Bristol. Deputies called off the pursuit when she crossed the state line into Tennessee.

Bristol, Tennessee officers later found Callahan's unoccupied vehicle on Meadow View Road with a handgun in the floorboard, according to the sheriff's office. They say the gun was stolen last year.

Callahan is wanted on several charges, including attempt to injure law enforcement, driving on a revoked or suspended license, and reckless driving. The sheriff's office says she is also wanted in Blountville and Bristol, Tennessee.

Anyone with information about Callahan's whereabouts is asked to contact the Washington County Sheriff's Office at 276-676-6000.
