VDH: New COVID-19 death reported in Smyth County

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) – The Virginia Department of Health reported 150,321 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth on Monday.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases to 159,570.

VDH reports there have been 3,122 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state as of Monday.

As of Monday, VDH reported 11,453 confirmed hospitalizations due to COVID-19 and 100 probable virus-related hospitalizations.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered.County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 214 cases / 14 hospitalizations/ 7 deaths (3 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Buchanan County – 204 cases / 13 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths
Dickenson County – 109 cases / 8 hospitalizations/ 1 death
Lee County – 331 cases / 28 hospitalizations/ 8 deaths (7 new cases)
Norton – 41 cases / 5 hospitalizations
Russell County – 350 cases / 30 hospitalizations / 7 deaths (4 new cases)
Scott County – 223 cases / 20 hospitalizations / 4 deaths
Smyth County – 575 cases / 51 hospitalizations / 22 deaths (1 new case/ 1 new hospitalization/ 1 new death)
Tazewell County – 380 cases / 18 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths (3 new cases)
Washington County, Va. – 735 cases / 72 hospitalizations / 21 deaths (10 new cases)
Wise County – 488 cases / 35 hospitalizations / 9 deaths (3 new cases)

On Monday, VDH reported 31 new COVID-19 cases in Southwest Virginia and one new death in Smyth County.

The Virginia Department of Health does not report recoveries from the virus.
