VDH: New COVID-19 death in Washington County, 46 new cases in Southwest Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) — The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 46 new cases of COVID-19 and one new death related to the virus in Southwest Virginia on Thursday.

The new death was reported in Washington County.

Statewide, VDH reported 537,297 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 693,206.

VDH reports there have been 9,730 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 1,625 cases / 123 hospitalizations / 36 deaths (1 new case)
Buchanan County – 1,579 cases / 119 hospitalizations / 46 deaths (7 new cases)
Dickenson County – 1,011 cases / 47 hospitalizations / 19 deaths (-3 cases)
Lee County – 2,458 cases / 115 hospitalizations / 48 deaths (2 new cases)
Norton – 303 cases / 19 hospitalizations / 7 deaths
Russell County – 2,335 cases / 134 hospitalizations / 40 deaths (4 new cases)
Scott County – 1,912 cases / 131 hospitalizations / 61 deaths (5 new cases)
Smyth County – 3,017 cases / 208 hospitalizations / 96 deaths (5 new case/ 1 new hospitalization)
Tazewell County – 3,793 cases / 183 hospitalizations / 76 deaths (2 new cases)
Washington County, Va. – 5,135 cases / 443 hospitalizations / 115 deaths (9 new cases/ 1 new death)
Wise County – 3,347 cases / 185 hospitalizations / 105 deaths (11 new cases)
