VDH: New COVID-19 death in Tazewell County, 74 new cases in Southwest Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) – The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 74 new cases of COVID-19 and one new death in Southwest Virginia Wednesday.

The new deaths was reported in Tazewell County.

Statewide, VDH reported 490,958 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 629,155.

VDH reports there have been 8,719 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 1,318 cases / 87 hospitalizations / 31 deaths (12 new cases)
Buchanan County – 1,361 cases / 98 hospitalizations / 36 deaths (6 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Dickenson County – 911 cases / 40 hospitalizations / 15 deaths
Lee County – 2,376 cases / 106 hospitalizations / 45 deaths (4 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Norton – 259 cases / 18 hospitalizations / 6 deaths (2 new cases)
Russell County – 2,181 cases / 127 hospitalizations / 35 deaths (7 new cases)
Scott County – 1,727 cases / 116 hospitalizations / 51 deaths (3 new cases)
Smyth County – 2,677 cases / 185 hospitalizations / 90 deaths (17 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Tazewell County – 3,423 cases / 153 hospitalizations / 65 deaths (3 new cases/ 1 new death)
Washington County, Va. – 4,543 cases / 383 hospitalizations / 101 deaths (12 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Wise County – 3,010 cases / 155 hospitalizations / 93 deaths (8 new cases)
