VDH: New COVID-19 death in Scott County, 59 new cases in Southwest Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) – The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 59 new cases of COVID-19 and one new death related to the virus on Thursday.

Statewide, VDH reported 506,220 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 650,981.

VDH reports there have been 8,941 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 1,410 cases / 90 hospitalizations / 32 deaths (4 new cases/ -1 death)
Buchanan County – 1,395 cases / 100 hospitalizations / 38 deaths
Dickenson County – 916 cases / 40 hospitalizations / 15 deaths (1 new case)
Lee County – 2,406 cases / 109 hospitalizations / 46 deaths (1 new hospitalization)
Norton – 265 cases / 18 hospitalizations / 7 deaths (1 new case)
Russell County – 2,228 cases / 129 hospitalizations / 36 deaths (7 new cases)
Scott County – 1,786 cases / 120 hospitalizations / 52 deaths (3 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization/ 1 new death)
Smyth County – 2,766 cases / 190 hospitalizations / 91 deaths (6 new cases)
Tazewell County – 3,541 cases / 156 hospitalizations / 65 deaths (9 new cases)
Washington County, Va. – 4,752 cases / 400 hospitalizations / 102 deaths (16 new cases/ 5 new hospitalizations)
Wise County – 3,078 cases / 157 hospitalizations / 94 deaths (12 new cases)
