VDH: 85 new COVID-19 cases in SWVA, new death in Washington Co.

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) – The Virginia Department of Health reported 157,998 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth on Wednesday.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases to 168,772.

VDH reports there have been 3,266 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

VDH reported Wednesday morning that there are 11,896 confirmed hospitalizations due to COVID-19 and 114 probable virus-related hospitalizations.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 240 cases / 18 hospitalizations/ 7 deaths (4 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Buchanan County – 241 cases / 15 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths (2 new cases)
Dickenson County – 123 cases / 8 hospitalizations/ 1 death (2 new cases)
Lee County – 413 cases / 33 hospitalizations/ 9 deaths (13 new cases)
Norton – 45 cases / 5 hospitalizations
Russell County – 437 cases / 37 hospitalizations / 8 deaths (23 new cases/ 2 new hospitalizations)
Scott County – 300 cases / 24 hospitalizations / 5 deaths (11 new cases/ 2 new hospitalizations)
Smyth County – 604 cases / 53 hospitalizations / 24 deaths (1 new case)
Tazewell County – 437 cases / 19 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths (16 new cases)
Washington County, Va. – 850 cases / 77 hospitalizations / 26 deaths (5 new cases/ 1 new death)
Wise County – 542 cases / 39 hospitalizations / 9 deaths (8 new cases/ 2 new hospitalizations)

On Wednesday, VDH reported 85 new COVID-19 cases in Southwest Virginia and a new death in Washington County.

Russell County reported 23 new cases on Wednesday.

The Virginia Department of Health does not report recoveries from the virus.
