VDH: 7 new COVID-19 deaths reported in Smyth County

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL)- The Virginia Department of Health reported 139,144 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state on Monday.

The total number of probable and confirmed cases in Virginia is 146,593.

VDH said there have been 2,962 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state along with 210 probable COVID-19 deaths.

On Monday, VDH reported 10,832 confirmed hospitalizations due to COVID-19 and 84 probable virus-related hospitalizations.

Bristol, Va. – 186 cases / 10 hospitalizations/ 5 deaths (1 new case)
Buchanan County – 140 cases / 9 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths (1 new hospitalization)
Dickenson County – 101 cases / 7 hospitalizations/ 1 death
Lee County – 270 cases / 24 hospitalizations/ 7 deaths (1 new case)
Norton – 34 cases / 3 hospitalizations
Russell County – 264 cases / 24 hospitalizations / 5 deaths (2 new cases)
Scott County – 189 cases / 16 hospitalizations / 4 deaths (3 new cases)
Smyth County – 496 cases / 46 hospitalizations / 20 deaths (5 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization/ 7 new deaths)
Tazewell County – 304 cases / 16 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths (3 new cases)
Washington County, Va. – 581 cases / 59 hospitalizations / 20 deaths (9 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Wise County – 412 cases / 32 hospitalizations / 9 deaths (1 new case)

On Monday, VDH reported 25 new cases of COVID-19 in Southwest Virginia and seven new deaths.

All seven of those deaths were reported in Smyth County since Sunday, when three other deaths were reported there.

The Virginia Department of Health does not report recoveries from the virus.
