VDH: 6 new COVID-19 deaths in Southwest Virginia, 397 new cases

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) — Southwest Virginia counties reported 397 new COVID-19 cases and six new deaths, according to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).

Dickenson County reported one new death on Thursday, while Tazewell County reported five.

Statewide, VDH reported 293,446 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 349,584.

VDH reports there have been 4,437 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 917 cases / 42 hospitalizations/ 8 deaths (13 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Buchanan County – 870 cases / 59 hospitalizations/ 23 deaths (41 new cases/ -1 new hospitalization)
Dickenson County – 643 cases / 25 hospitalizations/ 5 deaths (17 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization/ 1 new death)
Lee County – 1,476 cases / 60 hospitalizations/ 29 deaths (37 new cases)
Norton – 169 cases / 10 hospitalizations/ 1 death (6 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Russell County – 1,520 cases / 90 hospitalizations / 16 deaths (36 new cases)
Scott County – 1,214 cases / 81 hospitalizations / 34 deaths (15 new cases/ 2 new hospitalizations)
Smyth County – 1,817 cases / 114 hospitalizations / 55 deaths (84 new cases/ 3 new hospitalizations)
Tazewell County – 2,335 cases/ 86 hospitalizations/ 24 deaths (47 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization/ 5 new deaths)
Washington County, Va. – 2,970 cases / 187 hospitalizations / 44 deaths (61 new cases/ 4 new hospitalizations)
Wise County – 2,023 cases / 106 hospitalizations / 58 deaths (40 new cases/ 2 new hospitalizations)

The Virginia Department of Health does not report recoveries from the virus.
