VDH: 52 new COVID-19 cases in SWVA; one new death reported

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL)- The Virginia Department of Health reported 143,883 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state on Sunday.

The total number of probable and confirmed cases in Virginia is 151,870.

VDH said there have been 3,060 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state along with 213 probable COVID-19 deaths.

On Sunday, VDH reported 11,130 confirmed hospitalizations due to COVID-19 and 91 probable virus-related hospitalizations.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered.County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 194 cases / 10 hospitalizations/ 7 deaths (4 new cases)
Buchanan County – 175 cases / 12 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths (2 new cases)
Dickenson County – 102 cases / 7 hospitalizations/ 1 death
Lee County – 301 cases / 28 hospitalizations/ 7 deaths (6 new cases)
Norton – 39 cases / 4 hospitalizations (2 new cases)
Russell County – 289 cases / 27 hospitalizations / 5 deaths (3 new cases)
Scott County – 202 cases / 17 hospitalizations / 4 deaths (3 new cases)
Smyth County – 538 cases / 48 hospitalizations / 20 deaths (9 new cases)
Tazewell County – 341 cases / 16 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths (1 new case)
Washington County, Va. – 634 cases / 70 hospitalizations / 21 deaths (14 new cases/ 3 new hospitalizations)
Wise County – 446 cases / 33 hospitalizations / 9 deaths (8 new cases, 1 new death)

On Sunday, VDH reported 52 new cases of COVID-19 in Southwest Virginia and three more hospitalizations.

One additional COVID-19-related death was reported in Wise County.

The Virginia Department of Health does not report recoveries from the virus.
