VDH: 5 new COVID-19 deaths in SWVA; 30 new local cases

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL)- The Virginia Department of Health reported 137,283 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state on Friday.

The total number of probable and confirmed cases in Virginia is 144,433.

VDH said there have been 2,930 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state along with 206 probable COVID-19 deaths.

On Friday, VDH reported 10,721 confirmed hospitalizations due to COVID-19 and 85 probable virus-related hospitalizations.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered.County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 182 cases / 10 hospitalizations/ 5 deaths (4 new cases/ 1 new death)
Buchanan County – 137 cases / 8 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths (1 new case)
Dickenson County – 99 cases / 7 hospitalizations/ 1 death (2 new cases)
Lee County – 266 cases / 24 hospitalizations/ 7 deaths (3 new cases)
Norton – 33 cases / 3 hospitalizations
Russell County – 254 cases / 24 hospitalizations / 5 deaths (8 new cases)
Scott County – 184 cases / 16 hospitalizations / 4 deaths (3 new cases)
Smyth County – 457 cases / 43 hospitalizations / 10 deaths (3 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization/ 1 new death)
Tazewell County – 284 cases / 15 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths (1 new case)
Washington County, Va. – 553 cases / 55 hospitalizations / 20 deaths (3 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization/ 3 new deaths)
Wise County – 400 cases / 32 hospitalizations / 9 deaths (2 new cases)

On Friday, VDH reported 30 new cases of COVID-19 in Southwest Virginia and five new local deaths.

VDH reported three new deaths in Washington County on Friday.

Bristol and Smyth County also reported one new death each.

Russell County reported eight new cases.

The Virginia Department of Health does not report recoveries from the virus.
