VDH: 48 new COVID-19 cases in Southwest Virginia, 3 new deaths

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) – The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 48 new cases of COVID-19 and 3 new deaths related to the virus on Saturday. Washington County had two deaths, and Wise County had one.

Statewide, VDH reported 508,034 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 653,326.

VDH reports there have been 8,963 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 1,423 cases / 90 hospitalizations / 32 deaths (6 new cases)
Buchanan County – 1,397 cases / 100 hospitalizations / 38 deaths (1 new case)
Dickenson County – 918 cases / 40 hospitalizations / 15 deaths (1 new case)
Lee County – 2,409 cases / 109 hospitalizations / 46 deaths (3 new cases)
Norton – 265 cases / 18 hospitalizations / 7 deaths
Russell County – 2,232 cases / 129 hospitalizations / 36 deaths (2 new cases)
Scott County – 1,789 cases / 121 hospitalizations / 52 deaths
Smyth County – 2,786 cases / 192 hospitalizations / 91 deaths (13 new cases)
Tazewell County – 3,547 cases / 156 hospitalizations / 65 deaths (3 new cases)
Washington County, Va. – 4,774 cases / 400 hospitalizations / 104 deaths (16 new cases / 2 new deaths)
Wise County – 3,086 cases / 159 hospitalizations / 95 deaths (3 new cases / 1 new death)
