VDH: 40 new COVID-19 cases in Southwest Virginia, no new deaths

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) — The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 40 new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths related to the virus in Southwest Virginia on Tuesday.

Statewide, VDH reported 541,040 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 699,342.

VDH reports there have been 9,740 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 1,642 cases / 125 hospitalizations / 36 deaths (4 new cases)
Buchanan County – 1,591 cases / 122 hospitalizations / 46 deaths
Dickenson County – 1,025 cases / 47 hospitalizations / 19 deaths
Lee County – 2,470 cases / 115 hospitalizations / 48 deaths
Norton – 311 cases / 19 hospitalizations / 7 deaths (2 new cases)
Russell County – 2,337 cases / 134 hospitalizations / 40 deaths (1 new case)
Scott County – 1,935 cases / 134 hospitalizations / 61 deaths (8 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Smyth County – 3,040 cases / 208 hospitalizations / 96 deaths (4 new cases)
Tazewell County – 3,816 cases / 187 hospitalizations / 76 deaths (5 new cases/ 2 new hospitalizations)
Washington County, Va. – 5,166 cases / 444 hospitalizations / 115 deaths (8 new cases)
Wise County – 3,383 cases / 185 hospitalizations / 105 deaths (8 new cases)
