VDH: 4 new COVID-19 deaths in Southwest Virginia, 47 new cases

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) – The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 47 new cases of COVID-19 and four new deaths related to the virus on Wednesday.

Tazewell County reported two new deaths. Washington County and the City of Bristol each reported one new death.

Statewide, VDH reported 520,333 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 668,147.

VDH reports there have been 9,224 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 1,509 cases / 101 hospitalizations / 34 deaths (5 new cases/ 1 new death)
Buchanan County – 1,425 cases / 103 hospitalizations / 40 deaths (1 new case/ 1 new hospitalization)
Dickenson County – 935 cases / 40 hospitalizations / 15 deaths (1 new case)
Lee County – 2,422 cases / 110 hospitalizations / 47 deaths
Norton – 283 cases / 19 hospitalizations / 7 deaths (1 new case/ 1 new hospitalization)
Russell County – 2,262 cases / 130 hospitalizations / 38 deaths (4 new cases)
Scott County – 1,835 cases / 126 hospitalizations / 54 deaths (8 new cases)
Smyth County – 2,949 cases / 202 hospitalizations / 92 deaths (4 new cases)
Tazewell County – 3,625 cases / 163 hospitalizations / 71 deaths (2 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization/ 2 new deaths)
Washington County, Va. – 4,906 cases / 419 hospitalizations / 109 deaths (11 new cases/ 1 new death)
Wise County – 3,187 cases / 160 hospitalizations / 96 deaths (10 new cases)
