VDH: 4 new COVID-19 deaths in Southwest Virginia, 35 new cases

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) – The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 35 new cases of COVID-19 and four new deaths related to the virus across Southwest Virginia on Thursday.

The new deaths were reported in Dickenson, Lee, Scott and Wise Counties.

Statewide, VDH reported 522,955 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 671,916.

VDH reports there have been 9,344 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 1,540 cases / 106 hospitalizations / 34 deaths (5 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Buchanan County – 1,445 cases / 106 hospitalizations / 43 deaths (2 new cases)
Dickenson County – 940 cases / 41 hospitalizations / 16 deaths (2 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization/ 1 new death)
Lee County – 2,429 cases / 110 hospitalizations / 48 deaths (1 new case/ 1 new death)
Norton – 289 cases / 19 hospitalizations / 7 deaths
Russell County – 2,282 cases / 130 hospitalizations / 38 deaths (9 new cases)
Scott County – 1,847 cases / 128 hospitalizations / 57 deaths (2 new cases/ 1 new death)
Smyth County – 2,968 cases / 204 hospitalizations / 93 deaths (-1 case)
Tazewell County – 3,661 cases / 165 hospitalizations / 70 deaths (8 new cases)
Washington County, Va. – 4,950 cases / 424 hospitalizations / 110 deaths (6 new cases/ 2 new hospitalizations)
Wise County – 3,221 cases / 166 hospitalizations / 99 deaths (-1 case/ 1 new hospitalization/ 1 new death)
