VDH: 39 new cases of COVID-19 reported in SWVA; 23 in Smyth Co.

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL)- The Virginia Department of Health reported 134,301 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state on Monday.

The total number of probable and confirmed cases in Virginia is 141,138.

VDH said there have been 2,816 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state along with 205 probable COVID-19 deaths.

On Monday, VDH reported 10,531 confirmed hospitalizations due to COVID-19 and 82 probable virus-related hospitalizations.

Bristol, Va. – 176 cases / 9 hospitalizations/ 3 deaths (1 new case)
Buchanan County – 130 cases / 7 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths (1 new case)
Dickenson County – 89 cases / 7 hospitalizations/ 1 death (1 new case)
Lee County – 261 cases / 23 hospitalizations/ 6 deaths (1 new case)
Norton – 33 cases / 3 hospitalizations
Russell County – 236 cases / 23 hospitalizations / 4 deaths (5 new cases)
Scott County – 180 cases / 16 hospitalizations / 4 deaths
Smyth County – 444 cases / 38 hospitalizations / 8 deaths (23 new cases / 1 new hospitalization)
Tazewell County – 255 cases / 15 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths (2 new cases)
Washington County, Va. – 539 cases / 51 hospitalizations / 16 deaths (3 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Wise County – 390 cases / 32 hospitalizations / 8 deaths (2 new cases)

On Monday, VDH reported 39 new cases of COVID-19 in Southwest Virginia and no new local deaths.

Smyth County reports 23 new cases as of Monday.

The Virginia Department of Health does not report recoveries from the virus.
