VDH: 3 new COVID-19 deaths in SWVA; 36 new cases

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) – The Virginia Department of Health reported 156,439 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth on Monday.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases to 166,828.

VDH reports there have been 3,209 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

VDH reported Monday morning that there are 11,777 confirmed hospitalizations due to COVID-19 and 105 probable virus-related hospitalizations.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 236 cases / 17 hospitalizations/ 7 deaths (3 new cases)
Buchanan County – 235 cases / 15 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths (1 new case/ 1 new hospitalization)
Dickenson County – 121 cases / 8 hospitalizations/ 1 death (1 new case)
Lee County – 392 cases / 33 hospitalizations/ 9 deaths
Norton – 44 cases / 5 hospitalizations
Russell County – 410 cases / 34 hospitalizations / 8 deaths (1 new case)
Scott County – 279 cases / 22 hospitalizations / 5 deaths (7 new cases)
Smyth County – 596 cases / 53 hospitalizations / 24 deaths (7 new cases/ 2 new hospitalizations/ 2 new deaths)
Tazewell County – 418 cases / 19 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths (1 new case)
Washington County, Va. – 841 cases / 76 hospitalizations / 23 deaths (8 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization/ 1 new death)
Wise County – 527 cases / 36 hospitalizations / 9 deaths (7 new cases)

On Monday, VDH reported 36 new COVID-19 cases in Southwest Virginia and three new deaths.

Two new deaths were reported in Smyth County and one in Washington County

The Virginia Department of Health does not report recoveries from the virus.
