VDH: 3 new COVID-19 deaths in Southwest Virginia, 45 new cases

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) — The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 45 new cases of COVID-19 and three new confirmed deaths related to the virus in Southwest Virginia on Wednesday.

The new deaths were reported in Washington, Buchanan and Tazewell Counties.

Statewide, VDH reported 536,663 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 692,105.

VDH reports there have been 9,727 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 1,624 cases / 123 hospitalizations / 36 deaths (6 new cases)
Buchanan County – 1,572 cases / 119 hospitalizations / 46 deaths (2 new cases/ 1 new death)
Dickenson County – 1,014 cases / 47 hospitalizations / 19 deaths (2 new cases)
Lee County – 2,456 cases / 115 hospitalizations / 48 deaths (1 new case)
Norton – 303 cases / 19 hospitalizations / 7 deaths
Russell County – 2,331 cases / 134 hospitalizations / 40 deaths (2 new cases)
Scott County – 1,907 cases / 131 hospitalizations / 61 deaths (6 new cases)
Smyth County – 3,012 cases / 207 hospitalizations / 96 deaths (1 new case)
Tazewell County – 3,791 cases / 183 hospitalizations / 76 deaths (6 new cases/ 1 new death)
Washington County, Va. – 5,126 cases / 443 hospitalizations / 114 deaths (8 new cases/ 1 new death)
Wise County – 3,336 cases / 185 hospitalizations / 105 deaths (11 new cases)
