VDH: 3 new COVID-19 deaths in Southwest Virginia, 41 new cases Tuesday

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) — The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 41 new cases of COVID-19 and three new confirmed deaths related to the virus in Southwest Virginia on Tuesday.

The new deaths were reported in Dickenson, Scott and Washington Counties.

Washington County reported 12 new cases alone on Tuesday, according to VDH.

Lee County reported two cases less than its Monday total.

Statewide, VDH reported 535,991 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 691,018.

VDH reports there have been 9,721 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 1,618 cases / 123 hospitalizations / 36 deaths (5 new cases)
Buchanan County – 1,570 cases / 119 hospitalizations / 45 deaths (1 new case)
Dickenson County – 1,012 cases / 47 hospitalizations / 19 deaths (1 new death)
Lee County – 2,455 cases / 115 hospitalizations / 48 deaths (-2 cases)
Norton – 303 cases / 19 hospitalizations / 7 deaths (4 new cases)
Russell County – 2,329 cases / 134 hospitalizations / 40 deaths (1 new case)
Scott County – 1,901 cases / 131 hospitalizations / 61 deaths (3 new cases/ 1 new death)
Smyth County – 3,011 cases / 207 hospitalizations / 96 deaths (6 new cases)
Tazewell County – 3,785 cases / 183 hospitalizations / 75 deaths (2 new cases)
Washington County, Va. – 5,118 cases / 443 hospitalizations / 113 deaths (12 new cases/ 1 new death)
Wise County – 3,325 cases / 185 hospitalizations / 105 deaths (7 new cases)
