VDH: 21 new COVID-19 cases, no new deaths reported in Southwest Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) – The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 21 new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths in Southwest Virginia Saturday.

This marks the fourth day in a row Southwest Virginia reports no new COVID-19 deaths.

Wise County reported one fewer cases than on Friday, bringing that county’s case count to 2,995. This brings Saturday’s net gain of COVID-19 cases in Southwest Virginia to 20 cases.

Statewide, VDH reported 487,107 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 623,881.

VDH reports there have been 8,634 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 1,293 cases / 85 hospitalizations / 31 deaths (3 new cases)
Buchanan County – 1,353 cases / 96 hospitalizations / 36 deaths
Dickenson County – 909 cases / 40 hospitalizations / 15 deaths (2 new cases)
Lee County – 2,369 cases / 105 hospitalizations / 45 deaths (2 new cases)
Norton – 255 cases / 17 hospitalizations / 6 deaths (2 new cases)
Russell County – 2,166 cases / 127 hospitalizations / 35 deaths
Scott County – 1,713 cases / 116 hospitalizations / 51 deaths (4 new cases)
Smyth County – 2,644 cases / 183 hospitalizations / 89 deaths (5 new cases / 2 new hospitalizations)
Tazewell County – 3,405 cases / 151 hospitalizations / 64 deaths (2 new cases / 1 new hospitalization)
Washington County, Va. – 4,504 cases / 374 hospitalizations / 100 deaths (1 new case / 1 new hospitalization)
Wise County – 2,995 cases / 155 hospitalizations / 92 deaths (-1 case)
