VDH: 20 new cases of COVID-19 in SWVA; no new local deaths

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL)- The Virginia Department of Health reported 129,963 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state on Wednesday.

The total number of probable and confirmed cases in Virginia is 136,359.

VDH said there have been 2,711 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state along with 173 probable COVID-19 deaths.

On Wednesday, VDH reported 10,318 confirmed hospitalizations due to COVID-19 and 71 probable virus-related hospitalizations.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered.County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 169 cases / 9 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths
Buchanan County – 113 cases / 7 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths (2 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Dickenson County – 79 cases / 7 hospitalizations/ 1 death
Lee County – 251 cases / 21 hospitalizations/ 6 deaths (3 new cases)
Norton – 33 cases / 3 hospitalizations
Russell County – 227 cases / 22 hospitalizations / 4 deaths (8 new cases)
Scott County – 176 cases / 15 hospitalizations / 4 deaths
Smyth County – 404 cases / 37 hospitalizations / 7 deaths (2 new cases; 1 new hospitalization)
Tazewell County – 232 cases / 15 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths (1 new case)
Washington County, Va. – 492 cases / 45 hospitalizations / 14 deaths (3 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Wise County – 383 cases / 32 hospitalizations / 7 deaths (1 new case)

On Wednesday, VDH reported 20 new cases in Southwest Virginia and no new local deaths.

Russell County reported the most new cases on Wednesday with 8 new cases added to its total.

The Virginia Department of Health does not report recoveries from the virus.
