VDH: 2 new COVID-19 deaths in Southwest Virginia, 53 new cases

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) – The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 53 new cases of COVID-19 and two new deaths related to the virus on Wednesday.

The new deaths were reported in Scott and Washington Counties.

Statewide, VDH reported 515,827 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 663,538.

VDH reports there have been 9,124 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 1,481 cases / 98 hospitalizations / 33 deaths (8 new cases / 1 new hospitalization)
Buchanan County – 1,417 cases / 101 hospitalizations / 38 deaths (1 new case)
Dickenson County – 927 cases / 40 hospitalizations / 15 deaths (2 new cases)
Lee County – 2,414 cases / 110 hospitalizations / 46 deaths
Norton – 281 cases / 18 hospitalizations / 7 deaths
Russell County – 2,249 cases / 130 hospitalizations / 38 deaths (4 new cases)
Scott County – 1,814 cases / 124 hospitalizations / 53 deaths (3 new cases/ 1 new death)
Smyth County – 2,908 cases / 197 hospitalizations / 91 deaths (9 new cases)
Tazewell County – 3,602 cases / 158 hospitalizations / 67 deaths (7 new cases)
Washington County, Va. – 4,862 cases / 419 hospitalizations / 107 deaths (14 new cases/ 3 new hospitalizations/ 1 new death)
Wise County – 3,141 cases / 160 hospitalizations / 96 deaths (5 new cases)
