VDH: 2 new COVID-19 deaths in Southwest Virginia, 327 new cases

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) – Southwest Virginia counties reported 327 new COVID-19 cases and two new deaths according to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).

Statewide, VDH reported 271,811 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 319,133.

VDH reports there have been 4,251 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

VDH reported Wednesday morning that there are 16,730 confirmed hospitalizations due to COVID-19 and 541 probable virus-related hospitalizations.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 815 cases / 39 hospitalizations/ 7 deaths (26 new cases)
Buchanan County – 685 cases / 50 hospitalizations/ 24 deaths (41 new cases/ 3 new hospitalizations)
Dickenson County – 571 cases / 23 hospitalizations/ 4 deaths (17 new cases)
Lee County – 1,315 cases / 60 hospitalizations/ 28 deaths (11 new cases)
Norton – 141 cases / 8 hospitalizations/ 1 death (3 new cases)
Russell County – 1,370 cases / 82 hospitalizations / 15 deaths (39 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization/ 1 new death)
Scott County – 1,126 cases / 75 hospitalizations / 29 deaths (8 new cases/ 4 new hospitalizations/ 1 new death)
Smyth County – 1,612 cases / 102 hospitalizations / 51 deaths (27 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Tazewell County – 1,997 cases/ 69 hospitalizations/ 15 deaths (83 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Washington County, Va. – 2,672 cases / 174 hospitalizations / 40 deaths (38 new cases)
Wise County – 1,790 cases / 96 hospitalizations / 53 deaths (34 new cases/ 3 new hospitalizations)

The Virginia Department of Health does not report recoveries from the virus.
