VDH: 2 new COVID-19 deaths, 38 new cases in Southwest Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) – The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 38 new cases of COVID-19 and two new deaths related to the virus on Tuesday.

The new deaths were reported in Tazewell and Washington Counties.

Statewide, VDH reported 520,009 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 667,586.

VDH reports there have been 9,209 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 1,504 cases / 101 hospitalizations / 33 deaths (6 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Buchanan County – 1,424 cases / 102 hospitalizations / 40 deaths
Dickenson County – 934 cases / 40 hospitalizations / 15 deaths (2 new cases)
Lee County – 2,422 cases / 110 hospitalizations / 47 deaths (3 new cases)
Norton – 282 cases / 18 hospitalizations / 7 deaths
Russell County – 2,258 cases / 130 hospitalizations / 38 deaths (1 new case)
Scott County – 1,827 cases / 126 hospitalizations / 54 deaths (3 new cases)
Smyth County – 2,945 cases / 202 hospitalizations / 92 deaths (-3 cases)
Tazewell County – 3,623 cases / 162 hospitalizations / 69 deaths (4 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization/ 1 new death)
Washington County, Va. – 4,895 cases / 419 hospitalizations / 108 deaths (8 new cases/ 1 new death)
Wise County – 3,177 cases / 160 hospitalizations / 96 deaths (11 new cases)
