VDH: 189 new COVID-19 cases in Southwest Virginia since Friday

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) — The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 189 new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths related to the virus in Southwest Virginia since Friday.

Over the weekend, Smyth County reported one less total death than it had on Friday.

Statewide, VDH reported 547,240 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 709,319.

VDH reports there have been 9,770 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 1,670 cases / 129 hospitalizations / 38 deaths (16 new cases/ 2 new hospitalizations)
Buchanan County – 1,624 cases / 122 hospitalizations / 46 deaths (21 new cases)
Dickenson County – 1,037 cases / 47 hospitalizations / 19 deaths (2 new cases)
Lee County – 2,491 cases / 114 hospitalizations / 48 deaths (14 new cases)
Norton – 328 cases / 19 hospitalizations / 7 deaths (1 new case)
Russell County – 2,368 cases / 135 hospitalizations / 40 deaths (15 new cases)
Scott County – 1,967 cases / 135 hospitalizations / 61 deaths (13 new cases)
Smyth County – 3,077 cases / 210 hospitalizations / 95 deaths (12 new cases/ -1 case)
Tazewell County – 3,886 cases / 189 hospitalizations / 76 deaths (30 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Washington County, Va. – 5,241 cases / 447 hospitalizations / 115 deaths (38 new cases)
Wise County – 3,450 cases / 187 hospitalizations / 106 deaths (27 new cases)
