VDH: 16 new COVID-19 cases reported in Southwest Virginia Friday

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) — The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 16 new cases of COVID-19 and no new confirmed deaths related to the virus in Southwest Virginia on Friday.

Statewide, VDH reported 532,034 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 684,499.

VDH reports there have been 9,687 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 1,596 cases / 119 hospitalizations / 37 deaths
Buchanan County – 1,557 cases / 117 hospitalizations / 45 deaths
Dickenson County – 1,012 cases / 47 hospitalizations / 18 deaths (2 new cases / 1 new hospitalization)
Lee County – 2,434 cases / 113 hospitalizations / 49 deaths (1 new case)
Norton – 293 cases / 19 hospitalizations / 7 deaths
Russell County – 2,316 cases / 134 hospitalizations / 40 deaths (3 new cases)
Scott County – 1,890 cases / 131 hospitalizations / 60 deaths (1 new case)
Smyth County – 2,996 cases / 207 hospitalizations / 96 deaths
Tazewell County – 3,774 cases / 180 hospitalizations / 75 deaths (2 new cases)
Washington County, Va. – 5,064 cases / 438 hospitalizations / 111 deaths (5 new cases)
Wise County – 3,308 cases / 181 hospitalizations / 105 deaths (2 new cases)
