VDH: 110 new COVID-19 cases in SWVA, 44 in Wise County

The 14-day average of new daily cases across eight Southwest Virginia counties reached another new high (110.36) Thursday.

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) – The Virginia Department of Health reported 180,623 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth on Thursday.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases to 198,027.

VDH reports there have been 3,490 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

VDH reported Thursday morning that there are 13,141 confirmed hospitalizations due to COVID-19 and 198 probable virus-related hospitalizations.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 403 cases / 23 hospitalizations/ 7 deaths (5 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Buchanan County – 307 cases / 18 hospitalizations/ 4 deaths (4 new cases)
Dickenson County – 195 cases / 12 hospitalizations/ 1 death (1 new case)
Lee County – 700 cases / 39 hospitalizations/ 11 deaths (10 new cases)
Norton – 62 cases / 5 hospitalizations
Russell County – 657 cases / 51 hospitalizations / 8 deaths (1 new case)
Scott County – 579 cases / 35 hospitalizations / 9 deaths (14 new cases)
Smyth County – 784 cases / 60 hospitalizations / 27 deaths (12 new cases)
Washington County, Va. – 1,361 cases / 108 hospitalizations / 28 deaths (19 new cases/ 2 new hospitalizations)
Wise County – 953 cases / 50 hospitalizations / 12 deaths (44 new cases)

On Thursday, VDH reported 110 new COVID-19 cases in Southwest Virginia and no new deaths.

Wise County reported 44 new cases on Thursday.

The Virginia Department of Health does not report recoveries from the virus.
