VDH: 11 new COVID-19 deaths in Southwest Virginia, 125 new cases

The 14-day COVID hospitalization rate for Southwest Virginia rose to a new high Tuesday.

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) — Southwest Virginia counties reported 125 new COVID-19 cases and 11 new deaths Tuesday, according to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).

The new deaths were reported across Southwest Virginia.

Statewide, VDH reported 336,203 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 407,947.

VDH reports there have been 4,833 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 1,063 cases / 54 hospitalizations/ 11 deaths (5 new cases/ 2 new hospitalizations/ 2 new deaths)
Buchanan County – 970 cases / 70 hospitalizations/ 23 deaths (6 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Dickenson County – 755 cases / 27 hospitalizations/ 9 deaths (5 new cases/ 3 new deaths)
Lee County – 1,790 cases / 77 hospitalizations/ 32 deaths (27 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Norton – 209 cases / 12 hospitalizations/ 2 deaths (2 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization/ 1 new death)
Russell County – 1,757 cases / 98 hospitalizations / 19 deaths (11 new cases)
Scott County – 1,350 cases / 91 hospitalizations / 39 deaths (8 new cases/ 2 new hospitalizations)
Smyth County – 2,113 cases / 142 hospitalizations / 60 deaths (19 new cases/ 2 new hospitalizations/ 1 new death)
Tazewell County – 2,716 cases/ 106 hospitalizations/ 27 deaths (9 new cases/ 4 new hospitalizations/ 3 new deaths)
Washington County, Va. – 3,457 cases / 234 hospitalizations / 58 deaths (10 new cases/ 8 new hospitalizations)
Wise County – 2,406 cases / 125 hospitalizations / 67 deaths (23 new cases/ 2 new hospitalization/ 1 new death)

The Virginia Department of Health does not report recoveries from the virus.
