VDH: 101 new COVID-19 cases in Southwest Virginia, new death in Bristol

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) — The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 101 new cases of COVID-19 and one new death related to the virus in Southwest Virginia on Wednesday.

The new death was reported in Bristol, Virginia, the city’s 37th reported death.

Lee County reported one less total hospitalization than it had Tuesday.

Statewide, VDH reported 542,190 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 701,059.

VDH reports there have been 9,745 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Bristol, Va. – 1,646 cases / 126 hospitalizations / 37 deaths (4 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization/ 1 new death)
Buchanan County – 1,595 cases / 122 hospitalizations / 46 deaths (4 new cases)
Dickenson County – 1,027 cases / 47 hospitalizations / 19 deaths (2 new cases)
Lee County – 2,472 cases / 114 hospitalizations / 48 deaths (2 new cases/ -1 hospitalization)
Norton – 324 cases / 19 hospitalizations / 7 deaths (13 new cases)
Russell County – 2,340 cases / 134 hospitalizations / 40 deaths (3 new cases)
Scott County – 1,946 cases / 134 hospitalizations / 61 deaths (11 new cases)
Smyth County – 3,048 cases / 210 hospitalizations / 96 deaths (8 new cases/ 2 new hospitalizations)
Tazewell County – 3,833 cases / 188 hospitalizations / 76 deaths (17 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
Washington County, Va. – 5,176 cases / 447 hospitalizations / 115 deaths (10 new cases/ 3 new hospitalizations)
Wise County – 3,410 cases / 186 hospitalizations / 105 deaths (27 new cases/ 1 new hospitalization)
