VDH: 1 new COVID-19 death in Southwest Virginia, 26 new cases

RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) — The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 26 new cases of COVID-19 and one new death related to the virus across Southwest Virginia on Wednesday.

The new death was reported in Bristol, Virginia.

Statewide, VDH reported 524,769 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

According to VDH, the total number of confirmed and probable cases is 674,439.

VDH reports there have been 9,415 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Note: VDH does not report whether cases are active or recovered. County and community case totals can include active, recovered, confirmed and probable cases.

Bristol, Va. – 1,560 cases / 110 hospitalizations / 35 deaths (4 new cases/ 2 new hospitalizations/ 1 new death)
Buchanan County – 1,463 cases / 107 hospitalizations / 43 deaths (3 new cases)
Dickenson County – 950 cases / 41 hospitalizations / 16 deaths (4 new cases)
Lee County – 2,433 cases / 111 hospitalizations / 48 deaths (2 new cases)
Norton – 290 cases / 19 hospitalizations / 7 deaths
Russell County – 2,290 cases / 131 hospitalizations / 39 deaths (2 new cases)
Scott County – 1,853 cases / 130 hospitalizations / 59 deaths (1 new case)
Smyth County – 2,969 cases / 205 hospitalizations / 94 deaths (-1 new case)
Tazewell County – 3,690 cases / 167 hospitalizations / 71 deaths (8 new cases/ -1 new hospitalization)
Washington County, Va. – 4,973 cases / 427 hospitalizations / 110 deaths (2 new cases)
Wise County – 3,235 cases / 168 hospitalizations / 100 deaths
