TDH: 28,340 cases of COVID-19 in Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Tennessee Department of Health reported 28,340 cases of COVID-19 in the state on Thursday, an increase of 471 cases since Wednesday.

The department also reported 441 deaths, 2,011 hospitalizations, and 18,922 recoveries. More than 535,000 coronavirus tests have been administered.

On Wednesday, TDH reported 27,869 cases and 436 deaths.

Two new cases were reported in our area: one in Johnson County and one in Washington County.

There are now 40 active cases in Northeast Tennessee, up from 38 active cases on Wednesday based on TDH data.

The following data was reported for local counties:

Carter — 19 cases / 1 death / 18 recoveries
Greene — 52 cases / 2 deaths / 49 recoveries
Hawkins — 34 cases / 2 deaths / 32 recoveries
Johnson — 24 cases / 17 recoveries
Sullivan — 67 cases / 2 deaths / 58 recoveries
Unicoi — 52 cases / 41 recoveries
Washington — 88 cases / 74 recoveries
