One new COVID-19 death, 22 fewer active cases reported in Northeast Tennessee on Wednesday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Tennessee Department of Health reported 240,198 confirmed cases and 14,022 probable cases of COVID-19 in the state on Wednesday, an increase of 2,446 total cases since Tuesday.

The health department also announced 3,067 confirmed deaths, 1,254 current hospitalizations, and 224,822 recovered or inactive cases. More than 3.5 million coronavirus tests have been administered. 

In Northeast Tennessee, one new death was reported Wednesday in Sullivan County. 

TDH reported 197 new cases locally: 77 in Sullivan County, 48 in Washington County, 32 in Carter County, 13 in Hawkins County, 12 in Unicoi County, 10 in Greene County, and five in Johnson County.

The state health department also reported 218 new recovered/inactive cases in our area. 

There are currently 2,398 active cases in Northeast Tennessee, down from 2,420 on Tuesday.
