Five new deaths, 188 new COVID-19 cases reported Monday in NE TN

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Tennessee Department of Health reported 207,669 confirmed cases and 10,013 probable cases of COVID-19 in the state on Monday, an increase of 2,965 total cases since Sunday.

The health department also announced 2,649 confirmed deaths, 846 current hospitalizations, and 194,836 recovered or inactive cases. More than 3.2 million coronavirus tests have been logged. 

On Sunday, TDH reported 204,848 confirmed cases and 2,642 confirmed deaths. 

Five new deaths were reported Monday in Northeast Tennessee: two in Sullivan County and one each in Carter, Johnson, and Washington counties.

TDH also reported 188 new cases locally: 54 in Sullivan County, 52 in Washington County, 29 in Greene County, 22 in Hawkins County, 20 in Carter County, nine in Johnson County, and two in Unicoi County.

The state health department reported 62 new inactive or recovered cases in our area.

There are currently 1,458 active cases in Northeast Tennessee, up from 1,337 on Sunday.
