Five new COVID-19 deaths reported in Northeast Tennessee on Thursday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Tennessee Department of Health reported 172,453 confirmed cases and 5,687 probable cases of COVID-19 in the state on Thursday, an increase of 1,053 total cases since Wednesday.

The health department also announced 2,084 confirmed deaths, 823 current hospitalizations, and 161,707 recovered or inactive cases. More than 2.5 million coronavirus tests have been administered. 

On Wednesday, TDH reported 171,574 confirmed cases and 2,074 confirmed deaths. 

Five new deaths were reported in Northeast Tennessee on Thursday: two in Greene County and one each in Carter, Hawkins, and Washington counties.

TDH reported 47 new cases locally: 15 in Washington County, 11 each in Greene and Sullivan counties, four in Carter County, and two each in Hawkins, Johnson, and Unicoi counties.

The department reported 68 new recoveries locally.

There are currently 737 active cases in Northeast Tennessee, down from 763 active cases on Wednesday.
