Storm Team 11 Meteorologist Tyler Allender is proud to serve the Tri-Cities and you can watch him weekend evenings at 6 and 11 p.m. on News Channel 11.
Tyler graduated from Florida State University and comes to us after living in Florida all his life.
He previously worked at WJHG/WECP in Panama City Beach for four and a half years where he specialized in tracking severe thunderstorms and had a crucial role providing lifesaving information before, during, and after Hurricane Michael in October 2018. However, Tyler doesn’t mind the change of seasons and active weather pattern in our area. He’s quickly learning how to forecast snow!
He’s had a profound interest in weather since he was five, but he would play in heavy rain when he was younger than that! By the time Tyler was eight years old, he was a weather watcher for Mike Lyons in West Palm Beach. For the next ten years, he’d call in his weather report from his south Florida home every afternoon.
Tyler loves to teach students about science and the weather so if you’d like him to visit your classroom, send him an e-mail.
In his free time, you’ll find Tyler exploring the mountains and outdoors with his beautiful wife Courtney around northeast Tennessee, southwest Virginia, and western North Carolina. He’s an active member in his church as well.
You can connect with Tyler on social media anytime. He’d love to hear your weather reports and see your weather photos.
