Sydney Kessler joined the WJHL Newschannel 11 team in August of 2019 as the noon anchor and breaking news anchor on the morning show.
Before her move to Johnson City, Sydney spent the past two years as a weekend anchor and reporter in West Texas. Originally from the Chicago region, Sydney grew up in the suburbs and went to school at Southern Illinois University. There she graduated with a major in Broadcast Journalism, and 2 minors in Political Science and Communication Studies.
Beginning when she was just a kid, Sydney has always had a passion for T.V. news.
“News has always been a part of my life. I grew up watching the 5 o’clock news with my dad, attended a ‘TV News Camp’ when I was a freshman in high school, majored in Broadcast Journalism, and was a producer in market 81 before I graduated. So, to say I love news would be an understatement.”
In her free time, Sydney loves to hike and explore the outdoors, making Johnson City the perfect match. On the weekends you can often find her outside, or downtown meeting new people. Definitely not shy, Sydney encourages you to come up and introduce yourself if you see her around. She’s here to share your stories and bring you the latest news from across the Tri-Cities. You can reach her at SKessler@WJHL.com.
