Jeff Keeling joined WJHL in October 2019 with an extensive background in print journalism. He has been a reporter and editor for the Kingsport Times-News, Johnson City Press and the Business Journal of the Tri-Cities TN/VA and also worked in the public and private sectors.
Jeff enjoys covering a broad array of subjects including local government, the business of health care and human interest stories. He loves the people and places of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. Jeff believes people deserve journalism that holds leaders and institutions accountable while also sharing stories that give people reason to celebrate, laugh and empathize with others.
The digital revolution allows WJHL and wjhl.com to blend the best approaches from broadcast and print. Jeff is grateful to be working with WJHL’s talented team producing in-depth coverage of important issues and important people — from mayors and CEOs to the region’s many ordinary folks with extraordinary stories.
Jeff, who has a journalism degree from Western Washington University, has served on numerous local boards and committees. Away from the station, he enjoys hiking, cycling, reading, cooking and spending time with his wife, his two grown children and their spouses and his three grandchildren.
