Meteorologist Alex Williams is excited to be a member of Storm Team 11 here in the Tri-Cities. You can catch him on News Channel 11 and ABC Tri-Cities weekend mornings from 6-8 a.m.
Working at News Channel 11 and ABC Tri-Cities is a homecoming for Alex. He grew up in the Tri-Cities and graduated from University High School in Johnson City. Go Jr. Bucs!
Weather has always been a passion of his growing up. For a short period of his early life, he lived out in Western Nebraska. While there, he experienced all different types of wild weather such as blizzards, bitter cold, severe weather, tornadoes, hail, and strong wind storms. These experiences paired with watching the Weather Channel 24/7 allowed his passion for weather to grow.
It wasn’t until a third-grade visit to Towne Acres Elementary from Chief Meteorologist Mark Reynolds that Alex decided to make studying the weather a career choice. In 2019, he graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in Meteorology. Go Tops!
Alex’s first job in the broadcast industry took him out west to Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he served as an on-staff meteorologist for KNWA/Fox24.
Alex is thrilled to be back in the Tri-Cities serving the community he grew up in. When he isn’t on-air, you can usually find him out on the many disc golf courses across the region, slinging discs with friends and family. He also loves running, so you might be able to catch him out on the Tweetsie Trail getting those miles in. Alex just completed his first half marathon this year and looks forward to running some of the 13.1s that the Tri-Cities has to offer. If you see him out and about make sure to say hi!
