Mark's Weather Blog: Sunny and Warm Friday - Storms this weekend - Much Colder by Monday!

Good Evening.  What a beautiful day we had across the Tri-Cities.  Climate data for the Tri-Cities Airport.

Temperatures will stay mild this weekend, but look at the high on Monday!

Rain chances are going up this weekend as a strong cold front moves across the region.

I want to show you the surface maps from NOAA for Friday into Saturday.

Friday Morning.  You can see the strong storm system across the center of the country.  Showers and storms will prevail across the central and southern Plains while snow and Blizzard conditions will prevail across the Rockies and the northern Plains.

 

Take a look at Friday night.  Severe thunderstorms will be possible across the lower Mississippi Valley to the Texas Gulf Coast while showers and some thunderstorms will be found from Missouri to the Great Lakes.  Look the snow breaking out from Minnesota to Denver.!  Very windy weather will prevail from the Great Lakes to the Rockies int the central Plains.

That  storm system will move east on Saturday.  We could see showers and storms late in the day.

Friday will be beautiful across the area with afternoon high temperatures close to 80 degrees.

The Severe weather threat will be off to our west.

The severe weather risk will be across the Tennessee Valley south to the Gulf Coast on Saturday.  We could find a few strong storms in our area late Saturday into early Sunday.

Take a look at the Storm Team Forecast Maps for Saturday and Sunday.

Noon Saturday - Partly cloudy skies are forecast for our area while storms could fire across middle Tennessee.

8 PM Saturday - We could see a few scattered showers and storms in our area.

Sunday morning - Showers and possible thunderstorms will be likely across the Tennessee Valley.

Rainfall early Sunday could be locally heavy at times.

We could see the rain last through Sunday evening.

Take a look at the rainfall potential from Saturday afternoon through Sunday night.

Much colder air will move into the area Monday with a chance of snow showers across the higher elevations.

The temperature roller coaster will continue into next week.
