Mark's Weather Blog: Rain tonight with rain and snow on Saturday - Freeze Sunday - Warmer next week

Friday, April 6, 2018 -

Good Evening.  The clouds are here and now get ready for rain tonight.  Much colder air will invade the region tomorrow with a chance of rain and snow.  Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for parts of the region.

I want to start off with a look at the potential snowfall across the region Saturday.

I have broken down our county maps to give you an idea of who will see the most snow.  Keep in mind, snow will most likely stick to the grassy surfaces and trees, but roads may be a little warm.

Temperatures will stay cool into early next week.

I want to let you know that we will have a FREEZE and  Frost Sunday morning as low temperatures will dip to the middle 20's!

Let's take a look at the forecast maps:

8 PM Tonight - Rain moves into the region.

Midnight Tonight - Rain, heavy at times, will fall across the region.

6 AM Saturday - Rain will change to snow across Kentucky and parts of southwest Virginia while rain falls over the rest of the region.

9 AM Saturday - The cold air continues to move into the region from the northwest.  Snow will fall across eastern Kentucky and parts of southwest Virginia while the Tri-Cities stays with rain.

Noon Saturday - Rain and snow will fall over northeast Tennessee while snow will continue to fall across parts of Kentucky and southwest Virginia.

3 Pm Saturday - Much of the area will see rain and snow showers.

6 PM Saturday - Snow will be likely across the higher elevations and southwest Virginia with a rain/snow mix for the Tri-Cities.

8 PM Saturday - The low pressure will move east which will allow our skies to clear Saturday night.

Sunday Morning will be clear and very cold with that Freeze and Frost possible.  Temperatures will be near 26 in the Tri-Cities with low 20's across the mountains.

We will have a chance of rain on Monday, but we dry out and warm up through the middle and end of next week.

Have a Great weekend!
