WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN (WJHL) - Jamarcus Jackson, the man charged in the shooting death of 24-year-old DeShaun Greer is no stranger to law enforcement. Jackson's criminal record began back in 2009.

"He was arrested for violation of probation and failure to appear on an aggravated assault charge and an aggravated robbery charge," said Washington County TN Sheriff Ed Graybeal.

Jackson was let out on bond but failed to appear in court. During that time he earned an additional charge, attempted first degree murder. He eventually made the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's Top Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.

"He was armed and dangerous and there were some other situations that were evident with him," said TBI Public Information officer Illana Tate.

Jackson was eventually captured in 2012.

"He spent from October 28, 2012 to July 10th, 2013 and was then released out of jail for time served," said Sheriff Graybeal.

The attempted murder charge was dismissed in July 2010. During his arraignment Monday, Jackson told Judge Don Arnold he understood the the charges he now faces. Judge Arnold appointed Jackson a public defender.

Jackson informed Judge Arnold that he has only been out of jail for 10 months.
