BLOUNTVILLE, TN (WJHL) - A Blountville boy who survived a rare transplant operation is in critical condition after his health deteriorated rapidly earlier this week.

Weston Keeton, 7,  was diagnosed with Primary Pulmonary Hypertension.

He's been at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia since July 2011 where he spent two years on a waiting list for a heart and double lung transplant.

Just before Christmas 2013, Weston received donor organs and has spent the past couple of months in recovery.

Weston's story got national attention over the holidays.

On her blog, Weston's mother said his condition worsened dramatically over the last week.   Weston's tricuspid valve began to leak and will require surgery next Wednesday to repair or replace the valve.   "Surgery on a heart after a heart and lung transplant is unheard of," Julie Weston told News Channel 11.

Making matters worse for Weston, Doctors diagnosed him with pneumitosis, a condition in which air is trapped in the bowels.

Weston's family is asking for prayers for their son whose story is being followed across the country.

Here's an earlier report on Weston's journey.

"His medical team has been busy preparing us for many of the unknowns," Julie said.  "We have faith that God will take care of Weston and that he is in the very best hands here at CHOP.   Until Wednesday, we will be making the most of everyday and enjoying our time with Weston."
