    A woman who owns several dogs and cats in Jonesborough faces multiple animal cruelty charges after an animal control officer says he found the animals living in deplorable conditions. Johnson City-Washington County Animal Control Officer Wayne Thomas caught it all on tape.

Washington County, VA - One man has been arrested as the result of a methamphetamine lab seizure in Washington County, Virginia.  According to Washington County Sheriff Fred Newman, a search warrant was served early this morning in the 18000 block of Overlook Drive in Abingdon, Virginia.

The Sheriff’s Office had received complaints that Gary Dwayne Damron was producing methamphetamine at his residence.  On the night of the 26th, morning of the 27th, deputies set up surveillance and found where Damron had been producing methamphetamine in a field close to his residence. 

A search warrant was obtained for his residence and it was executed at 6:00 am today.  “Two methamphetamine reaction vessels were found in the field, along with precursors.  A quantity of methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia was also found at Damron’s residence,” stated Sheriff Newman.


Gary Dwyane Damron, age 31, of the 18000 block of Overlook Drive, Abingdon, VA, has been arrested and charged with two counts of manufacturing methamphetamine, and one count of possession of precursors.  He is being held without bond in the Abingdon Facility of the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail.

Certified Clandestine Lab officers from the DEA, Abingdon Police Department and Virginia State Police assisted with the processing and dismantling of the meth lab.
