Birmingham Citizens Police Academy begins next month

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Birmingham Police Department is looking for a few good men and women to join its Citizens Police Academy.

The free 11-week program consists of various classes and interactions designed to give residents a better understanding of how the department operates, and the roles and duties of not only law enforcement officers, but also residents in order to improve the safety of Birmingham communities.

Only 40 people will be accepted into the academy set to run from March 18 – June 3.

Participants will be enrolled on a first come, first serve basis.

Classes will be held on most Tuesday nights from 6-8.

Individuals must be at least 21 years old and will be subject to a background check.
