Greene County commissioners vote to hire attorney to remove county clerk from position

Posted: Updated:
GREENE COUNTY, TN (WJHL) - The Greene County Commission took steps to remove county clerk David Thompson from his position Tuesday, by voting to hire an attorney to represent them in what is referred to as an ouster suit.

An ouster suit is reportedly the only legal method that a county commission can use to remove an elected official from office.

Thompson has been under investigation after allegations surfaced that he used his authority to gain sexual favors from women who worked in the court clerk's office.
