UNICOI COUNTY, TN (WJHL) -

A man and a juvenile face charges in the recent burning of a vehicle in Unicoi County.

According to the Unicoi County Sheriff’s Office, Josh D. Garland, 20, Dandridge, and the juvenile got the juvenile’s vehicle stuck in deep mud in the Bailey Hollow area of the county Sunday evening.

The pair walked and began looking for four-wheel drive vehicles to pull out their stuck vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.

At a home on Harris Street, the two found a vehicle with keys but none of them fit the ignition. A vehicle at another house a few doors down did have keys.

Garland drove this vehicle back to the stuck vehicle and pulled it out of the mud. The two were then accused of driving around in circular patterns in the mud until the tires popped on the stolen vehicle.

Garland then set fire to the stolen car and left the area, according to the sheriff’s office.

Garland and the juvenile were soon developed as suspects. When Unicoi County Sheriff Mike Hensley went to the home of the juvenile, he noticed two pairs of muddy boots at the door. These boots matched up with tracks left at the scene of the burned vehicle.

Additionally, items reported stolen from the burned vehicle were in plain sight in the juvenile’s truck, according to the sheriff.

Garland was charged with auto burglary, auto theft, arson, theft and vandalism.

He was scheduled to appear in Sessions Court Tuesday.

The juvenile is scheduled to be charged in Juvenile Court in Unicoi County.

Phil Carriger's latest ad accuses Rep. However, a review of the Hills' campaign finance filings over the years shows Carriger's claims are based on facts.
