Public tips leads to meth bust in Abingdon, VA

ABINGDON, VA (WJHL) -

A man and a woman are facing charges related to methamphetamine after numerous tips from the public.

The Smyth County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration executed a search warrant at 1075 Upper Poor Valley Road in Saltville, VA. Authorities found two meth labs.

Two people inside the home were arrested.

Dewayne Price, 45, was charged with 1 count of distributing methamphetamine and one count of precursors to manufacture.

Elizabeth Faye Hughes, 43, was charge with the same two charges and additional charges – including 2 counts of obtaining public assistance by fraud, 1 count of bad check and a count of failing to appear in court.

Both are being held at the Southwest Regional Jail in Abingdon, pending court arraignments.
