HONEA PATH, S.C. -

Two horses were found shot to death in a pasture in Honea Path.

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the scene off Highway 25 on Thursday.

The horses were last seen alive two days before.

One of the horses was found with a gunshot wound to the head. The other was shot in the shoulder.

Investigators say this does not appear to be a hunting accident.

The pasture and horses are not visible from the roadway, and the lock on the gate was not damaged.
