Woman attacked inside home, JCPD not saying much

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

More than a week after a Johnson City woman was attacked while reading a book alone in her apartment, Johnson City police aren't saying much about the crime.

It happened inside an apartment on W. Pine Street just before one o'clock in the morning on Sunday, September 22nd.

A 26 year-old woman told police she was laying on her couch inside her living room when a man put his hands over her mouth, pulled her hair and hit her in the face several times.

Luckily, she was able to fight him off.

When police arrived the woman was on her knees on her front porch screaming hysterically.

She told police all she heard just before the attack was her dog whine and bark.

Police determined the attacker entered through the bathroom window and left out the front door.

According to the police report, no suspects are listed.

"We don't have any suspects," Capt. Mike Street said.

Johnson City police said they are not commenting about this case, because at the moment, it's not a public safety issue.
