    A Johnson City man was arrested Saturday after police said he assaulted his father with a hammer.According to police, Robert Collins, 25, attacked the victim, choked him, hit him with a hammer, and then smashed a kitchen window.Collins was charged with one count of aggravated domestic assault and one count of vandalism.He's in the Washington County Detention Center on $25,000 bond.Copyright WJHL 2014.     Federal court documents reveal in the past, the owner of an adult novelty store on State Street in Bristol, Va. was selling more than just lingerie, pornography and synthetic drugs. Instead, pictures filed at the federal courthouse in Greeneville earlier this month show waist-high holes in private rooms inside Exotic Illusions.

BIG STONE GAP, VA (WJHL) -

Big Stone Gap, Virginia is about to go Hollywood.

Today, Governor Bob McDonnell announced the best-selling book by Adriana Trigiani named "Big Stone Gap" will be made into a movie.   

Filming is set to start this fall, a news release said.

"The novel Big Stone Gap is Adriana Trigiani's heartwarming tribute to her early life in Southwest Virginia," Governor  Governor McDonnell said.  "We are proud of her continuing success as a writer and are thrilled that her uplifting tribute to her hometown will be brought to life on the screen."  

"Big Stone Gap and its wonderful residents will always hold a special place in my heart," Adriana Trigiani said.  "I am delighted that I will be able to revisit my home in the mountains of Southwest Virginia to shoot the film version of my novel." 

The project apparently has been in the works for several years.   News that a move will be filmed in town was welcomed by people who live there.  "The entire community is thrilled to be a part of this exciting opportunity and we all look forward to supporting the production in every way we can," said Big Stone Gap Town Manager Pat Murphy.

According to the State, Big Stone Gap is eligible for up to $600,000 in incentives based on the amount of money the production company spends in Virginia as well as a $300,000 grant from Virginia's Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission.

The news release from Governor McDonnell's office included this synopsis of the book and soon-to-be-film.  

"Big Stone Gap tells the story of Ave Maria Mulligan, the town's self-proclaimed spinster.  She's a thirty-five year old pharmacist who lives a reasonably content life until she discovers that she's not who she always thought she was.  The novel is filled with an array of eccentric and lovable characters, and a large dose of small-town wisdom."

Trigiani grew up in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, the child of an Italian American family.   She now lives in New York City has written several other highly acclaimed and best selling books.
