Heavy rain causes flooding in parts of Johnson County

Posted: Updated:
JOHNSON COUNTY, TN (WJHL-TV) -

Rapid rain quickly flooded parts of Johnson County this morning.

Parts of Highway 421 and Highway 67 received the brunt of it.

The high waters come only days after another flood hit the area on Saturday.

One family tells us the water came up to their home, ripped off the siding, and even washed one of their storage sheds down a creek that runs behind their home.

Today's flooding did even more damage, washing up some roads and washing away more property.

"We got a phone call this morning and said it surrounded the house again," said Johnson County resident Debbie Dunn. "I guess the state, the county...have been working hard to try to detour it from the house."

The Johnson County Sheriff's Department tells us they did not have to evacuate anyone from their home during the flooding event this morning.

Johnson County is experiencing flooding right now due to heavy rain this morning.

Johnson County Sheriff Mike Reece says Highway 421 North has the worst flooding issues right now.

Sheriff Reece says there is also flooding on Highway 67.
